Aunt Mazie’s Mercantile is a love letter to legacy, laughter, and the art of making something meaningful.

Long before Aunt Mazie’s came to life, I spent 15 years building and running an award-winning gift shop called Lula Mae. What started as a small dream grew into a vibrant space filled with thousands of independent artisans and makers—each one bringing something original, heartfelt, and a little unexpected into the world. We also offered classes that helped to launch many small business into the success they are today!

It was also the birthplace of my card line, Alabama Brown, named after Lula Mae’s mother. That name carries generations of strong women, creative spirit, and a deep appreciation for the stories we inherit and pass on.

At Lula Mae, I leaned into humor that didn’t always play it safe—quirky, honest, sometimes a little irreverent. It became a place where playful, offbeat, and slightly cheeky ideas were not just welcomed, but celebrated. Over the years, the shop became a launching pad for so many emerging brands, designers and makers, helping them find their voice and their place in the world of delightful, unexpected goods. What many shops were afraid to cary in the humor realm, we proudly welcomed!

I’ve been a maker, creator and small business owner since 2004, and that spirit is still at the center of everything I do.

Aunt Mazie’s Mercantile is the next chapter—named after Lula Mae’s granddaughter, my great Aunt Mazie. Mazie Parker, was born Dec. July 19, 1923, in Rio Grande City, Texas. Aunt Mazie and Gramma Charlene were wonderful, feisty Southern Women! Sisters and Best Friends till the end. Her name carries forward everything I love building: a space for thoughtful goods, a sense of humor!

This isn’t just a shop. It’s a continuation of something bigger—rooted in family, creativity, and the belief that the things we surround ourselves with should make us feel something.
